We
had a Rhodesian from a
litter at 7 weeks for 10
years. She passed away after
surviving a spleen removal
at the U of P Veterinary
Hospital. After Cindy
passed away. The house was
Silent. No sounds of Cindy's
nails on the Hardwood
floors. We were not ready to
get another dog immediately
after Cindy passed. That
being said we realized
shortly afterwards we missed
that familiar noise. We got
a Red Alert on a Rhodesian
Boxer mix from a Rescue
where the 2nd owner; had
passed away from Cancer.
She had arranged for her dog
to be adopted by a good
family, and we were told she
had melancholy because of
missing her owner and was
losing weight. Hence the Red
Alert. We drove 25-30 miles
to the Rescue where Rosie
was to see about adopting
her. When we were
introduced to Rosie she was
all excited running all over
the place. We took her out
of the play area, and took
her for a walk. Then we were
told to let her off her
leash. There was an enormous
field across the street from
the Rescue, and Rosie Ran
circles around us wanting to
play. We took her back to
the rescue and she literally
knocked me over and started
to molest me with kisses. In
a good way. Apparently she
was overjoyed to have our
company. We were ready to
take her home that night ,
but needed approval from the
previous owner's brother who
was to meet us and see if he
approved. While we were
being kissed! d and playing
with toys the rescue called
the brother. He talked to my
wife and I and after several
questions approved us to the
rescue over the phone. We
got to take her home that
night. Now she is a member
of our family, and despite
the diabetes we don't go
anywhere she can't go. But
that's a pet lover isn't it.
