Introducing....Buddy! Isn't he just the sweetest big brother you've ever seen? I
wasn't looking for another Westie, I'd only brought his baby brother home 4
months earlier. But on the 6 month anniversary of losing my LuckyDog an email
showed up describing Buddy. He'd been severely neglected and received limited
care. By the looks of his collar he'd been tied outside in the sun through the
seasons. I read the email- looked towards rainbow bridge, and said- Ok LuckyDog,
we're off to NJ on Saturday! I really felt like LuckyDog had sent me Buddy,
after all he had been a rescue too.
When I first met Buddy,
his coat was long, curly and matted. Westie's don't have curly hair, but his had
been so badly neglected it was all twisted. I could barely see his eyes, but
when I pulled back his hair I found the most beautiful brown eyes and a look
just asking me to help him.
Buddy traveled very well
for the 3 plus hour ride back from NJ and was anxious to explore his new house
and meet his new friends. My neighbors and friends were all anxious to meet him,
and he greeted them each with wonder.
I truly believe no one had
paid him much attention in the first 32 months of his life. Buddy is still
learning to play well with others. But his greatest joys include peanut butter
cookies and a lazy boy chair he inherited from LuckyDog.
I can't change what
happened in his early life, but I can help replace those memories with those of
love. Buddy had a big birthday party for his 3rd, and a lot of Christmas
presents last year. He will be turning 4 on October 6, and would love to win the
pet contest as part of his birthday celebration!
