Hello all! My name is Jazz! My parents named me this because I am one spunky
little girl. Mom has worked for PetSmart for 11 years and found me one day ten
months ago in her dumpster. People seem to think leaving stray animals in a
trash can is alright. Mom certainly doesn't think so. Mom has, in her time,
saved hundreds of rascals just like me from behind her store, finding homes for
every single one. She told my Dad that I was just going to be another foster
child, but little did he know that she was planning on making a life long
commitment to me. He griped and grumbled as Dad's tend to do, but slowly I grew
on him. Once I showed him that I could be potty trained I had his heart forever!
It took me some time to acclimate to my surroundings and to figure out my place
in my new home. I had to assert myself in ways I never thought I could but I
eventually I carved out a niche. When I arrived, I had to not only convince Dad
that I wanted to stay but also two cats who thought I was food and a REALLY big
sister that has seen her fair share of foster kids come and go.
I started getting bigger and graduated from a bottle to "big dog" food. Within a
few months I was able to jump all the way up on the couch and lick Dad's face
when he watched football. This has to be one of my favorite hobbies! It's so
much fun to watch him try to squirm away from me while I try to give him kisses.
If he stayed still I'm sure it wouldn't be as fun!
A little while ago, Dad noticed me limping. It didn't seem to slow me down but
Dad thought I should see a Vet. After a couple of tests and X-Rays, the doctor
said that I had Legg-Perthes disease. Mom and Dad were quite unhappy when they
heard the news. It doesn't matter to me because I certainly don't plan on
slowing down! I mean, hel-lo! They didn't name me Jazz for nothing! Mom plans on
taking me in for surgery when I finally start slowing down a bit. I told the vet
that I'd see him in 2029!
I am so happy that I have parents that can afford to pay for my medical costs. I
get sad when I think about all my brothers and sisters whose parents can't
afford to take care of them how they'd like to. That's what makes organizations
like IMOM so great! They help those who can't take care of their furkids-whatever
the reason.
Thanks to everyone for
helping to make my brothers and sisters lives better!
