Duke & Sissy were thrown from a truck while they were pups. My neighbors
witnessed this tragedy and from there they ran wild in the Desert of AZ for 4
months. I do not know how they survived but they did and therefore they must be
very smart to dodge the rough terrain as well as the coyotes here as they are
plentiful. I found them on my property which was vacant for the 4 months that
they were in the wild. I had a dual residence and I was not here or I would
have rescued them sooner. My neighbors here told me they had called the animal
shelter to come catch them as they were knocking over garbage cans and scaring
everyone. I was told that they were to fast to be caught and they did not trust
any people. I don't know what kind of human garbage could do this to those
beautiful creatures but I am sure they will get there. I tried to get them to
come to me but it took 2 weeks for Duke to come to me and a month for Sissy to
come to me. I talked to them everyday and I put food and water out daily. I
had to take it across the street to start, and then I worked my way with the
food and water up to my property. These dogs would stop by to eat and drink and
then vanish for a day or two. I would worry sick wondering were they went. I
finally couldn't take it any longer and I went to the Vet and got some
tranquilizers to drug the dogs as they were so wild I couldn't even get a leash
on them, after getting them sedated just to calm them. I drove them to the vet
and had them spayed and neutered all shots and dewormed. The Vet said they were
close to dehydration and starving and may have not lasted much longer had I not
rescued them. I had my acre fenced in so they could not get out and possibly be
in danger and I had them licensed and I adopted them. The animals are very
smart and so loving and grateful that after a training program from a local
professional trainer they are so calm now that I can have them in the house and
they actually act like normal dogs now. I am so happy that I was the one to get
these
babies and everyone says they hit the lottery when they found me as I spoil them
so much and they certainly deserve it. I will never understand how anyone could
just toss out their pets for any reason as there is so many other choices such
as animal shelters. The animals would be better of there than to toss them out
to die a slow painful death such as starving. This is a big problem here in AZ
and you can see that coyotes and mountain lions take these precious animals and
consume them. I am so in love with my dogs and they are so devoted to me that it
is such a joy that I could be the one to find them. They stayed on my property
while I was at my winter house out of State so naturally they realized there was
no activity here so they felt safe. The neighbors thought these were my dogs
all that time. I told them if they were my dogs they would not be running wild
in the desert and I would never leave them alone without food and water for 4
months. They just assumed this because the dogs stayed on my property while I
was not here. These dogs are totally healthy and have the best Vet care as well
as all the love you could imagine. I have been a volunteer for the humane
society since I was a young girl and I have taken in more animals than I can
remember. Most of them needed Vet care and some were abused and I just took
them from their owners. I spayed and neutered them if needed and then placed
them in good homes. I had to keep some of them as they just would not leave
once they loved me, so I have had many pets at one time. I would do anything
for them and I am blessed to have received these beautiful dogs and more blessed
that I could save them from a horrible fate. Thank You for adopting a beautiful
creature that needed you.
God Bless You All, Brea
