All these dogs are rescues & they currently live happily together with the
addition of a big yellow foster, who recently came into our home. Chloe (the
little yellow lab) had been used for breeding and when the breeder was "done"
with her, he sold her to an elderly couple who soon realized they could not
provide her with the exercise she needed and they put her in rescue. When she
came to me 3 years ago, she had terrible separation anxiety, but we worked
through it and now she is a happy, relaxed little athlete.
Chester (in the middle) has been with me 4 years. I was his 5th owner, so it
took him a little while to realize that this is his "forever" home, but now he
is the king of the castle and has no worries at all. He does therapy work with
seniors and makes me very proud. His only fault is that he likes to warm up my
spot on the bed & doesn't always want to move over when it's time for me to get
in.
Sara has been with me just over a year. She was rescued from a home where she
was tied up in the yard all day and night. She was not allowed in the house.
When she came to me, she wanted to play with other dogs, but didn't know how to
play nicely. She ran directly at them and knocked them over, instead of
swerving. It took a few weeks, but soon she got the idea that it was more fun to
roll & wrestle with her new friends than beat up on them, and I think she
noticed that I wasn't quite so vocal when nobody was getting knocked around.
My house would be empty without the furkids and I would miss them terribly if
they were not here.
