I rescued Chester through
Lab Rescue Ontario 4 years ago. He was 3 then, and I was his 5th guardian. When
he came to me, he was 132lb & had difficulty even walking. He lost 40lb. in
about 5 months and the first time I saw him roll over in the sand, I was
thrilled. He seemed to know right away that I was his "forever" mom and he has
been a wonderful companion. I can't understand how anyone could have given him
up. I had two other rescued labs at home and they all got along famously.
Chester was tested and certified to do therapy work after about a year and now
we go to visit a senior's residence every Thursday. The residents are waiting at
the door, because they know that Chester is coming to see and entertain them. He
knows as soon as I put on his special collar that he has to be on his best
behavior. He makes me proud every time we go to visit and I lost a great big
chunk of my heart the day he came into my home.
