Wait till you hear about this girl!
This is Hailey. I rescued her from a shelter when I was just 8 years old. She
was my first pet and had much to teach me. Living in the back of the shelter,
she often was overlooked for the kittens up front. Hailey was just one year
old, yet already had a litter of kittens that all got adopted AND raised an
orphaned litter right afterwards that also got adopted. Finally it was her turn
to find happiness.
She was the perfect cat. Hailey never used her claws (even though she could
have), even when playing with my dog! She was incredibly tolerant and comforted
me whenever I needed her to. She had a special sense to know just what I was
feeling and when I needed her to sit on my lap and purr.
My time with her almost came to a halt when she got a blood clot in her front
paw and had an intense recovery period. Two years later, our time together did
come to an end when she got a second clot in her back legs and was paralyzed.
She left as peacefully as she lived and will never be forgotten. To this day it
amazes me that a cat this fantastic, that taught me so much as I grew up, was
left as a stray. I hope, by telling her story, people will look for those
animals who need your special attention. They will leave thousands of paw
prints on your heart.
