Kasey 'Bear' was rescued
from a rural shelter in Southwest Ohio when she began to shut down mentally
within the shelter. Our rescue group, AuCaDo Australian Cattle Dog Rescue of
MI-IL-OH, offered to take this girl in and rehabilitate her and find her a
loving, wonderful home.
Kasey was originally found running stray in Preble County without an owner or
home in sight. She came to live with me as a foster, but I soon realized after
her arrival that she would never leave my home. She quickly wormed her way into
my heart and my bed :)
I had been hoping to find a dog to trial with at herding contests when I had to
retire my own dog due to injuries. Kasey passed her herding instinct test with
flying colors, which made my hopes of adopting her myself a reality.
She never made it to being posted on our 'Adoptable Dogs' website. She is my
hidden treasure and constant companion. She is a wonderful ambassador for the
Australian Cattle Dog breed, and for the world of rescue. She was a gem sitting
in the shelter waiting to be discovered, and I am elated that I had the
wonderful pleasure of picking her up!
Kasey 'Bear' hopes that one day there will no longer be a need for rescues, and
that all animals are as lucky as she was, to find the perfect home.
