Walking
through the Cocoa, FL, shelter one day, I saw a little black head pop up out of
a cage crammed back in the corner. I hadn't even seen the little dog back
there. He just looked like a pile of dirt in the corner, really. I knew
instantly it was time for Leroy to come home.
We adopted him and christened him Duke. It has been 7 years since that day in
the shelter. Duke now loves going for rides, going for walks, going swimming,
and playing ball. He most of all loves to eat his dinner. Now that he is
graying around the muzzle, in addition to his other hobbies, Duke especially
enjoys snacking and napping.
