This
is Lady, our rescue Beagle. She was found in the the summer of 2005, wandering
the streets during dusk. Lady had a large gaping wound on her side when we
rescued her, not too mention large bruises most notably around her back paw and
on her hind.
We waited several days for someone to call and claim her, nobody did. My
daughter has special needs and this Beagle and her became quick friends.
Lady lived in our garage for those few days, while we wondered about her wound
and kept her away from our other pets. But she cried every night, even though
my daughter brought her a pillow and blanket to sleep on.
I took Lady to the vet, they looked her over and agreed she has sustained a life
of abuse. That whoever who owner was should not have rites to getting her back
becuase of her "battle scars". She had a large wound on her side that was
caused by beatings, the scars around her back area were beatings, she had 2
molars pulled out of her mouth that the vet never knew why. She has a large
bald area around her back paw from a tie out that literally chewed away her fur
in a complete circle around her leg.
We took her in for surgery to our regular vet a few weeks later. The vet
stitched her wound and cleaned it, almost removed some of the warts that older
dogs get. Lady was said to be 10 years old at the time we adopted her.
Lady has lived with us ever since and we love her. She is our best friend, even
the cats and other dog love her. My daughter and her are best friend. This dog
actually speaks to my daughter every morning, upon awakening Lady wags her tail
and says to my daughter "hello".
Lady is still skiddish about things, for instance the hose, whenever I am
watering the garden she sees the hose and runs, any flashlights shining, she
runs in fear. You cannot even take a picture of her without her being scared.
The vet told me a while ago it was probably because her owners told her to shut
up alot, probably squirted her with a hose and shined lights in her eyes.
Either way, Lady has a wonderful home now with people that love her, not abuse
her !
