IMOM Financial Aid

Important information if your application is approved

If your application is approved there is lots more to do. On this page you will find a brief description of what happens next. It will be beneficial to your pet if you will take the time to read the information on this page.

There are two possible scenarios if your application is approved:

  1. IMOM may have enough funds available without having to reach out to our community for donations.
  2. IMOM may NOT have enough funds available and will have to reach out to our community for donations.

Based on your personal situation all of the content below may not apply.

Community Forum

A topic will be started for your pet in our online community. The financial aid your pet receives from either a pledge made by IMOM or donations made directly to your pet by our supporters, would not be possible without donations from our community. If you haven't already registered in our community, you should do that as soon as you finish reading this page.

IMOM supporters are notified

At IMOM we have a large group of supporters who like to be notified when we have a new PIN on our site. Your volunteer caseworker will send out an email to all of them through our PIN Notification list. The email will include a brief description of the treatment your pet needs. It will also include a link to your topic in our community topic. Also included in the email will be instructions for anyone who would like to make a donation to your pet.

A special fund for your pet

We will set up a special account in our books for your pet. If IMOM is fund raising on behalf of your pet, all donations specified for your pet will be credited to that account.

Watch for An email from your caseworker

When all of the above has been completed your volunteer caseworker will notify you by email. The email will include a link to your pet's topic in our community forum. When you receive that email please acknowledge receipt within 12 hours.

Your forum postings

Please remember -if you are fund raising the funding you need will not just miraculously appear simply because you were approved. Without your presence in our community it is very unlikely that your pet will get donations. IMOM strongly advises that you become very active just as soon as your pet has a topic is started on the forum.

General Fundraising applicants are required to write/post in our forum every day. However, please remember that the more frequently you write, the better your chances of getting the help your pet needs, and deserves. You are encouraged to post more than once each day.

Failure to fulfill your posting requirements will result in closure of your case. We are very serious about these requirements and we make no exceptions.

Communicating with your caseworker

While your case is open it is important that you stay in contact with your volunteer caseworker -- at their committee email address. Please do not assume that we will always have time to read the community forum and look for your questions and concerns.

Fund Updates

You will be provided with frequent fund updates.  Updates will be posted by an IMOM volunteer in your pets topic in our community forum.

All Funds are raised!

Once your fundraising goal has been met your topic will be moved to a different category. The topic will go to "All Funds Have Been Raised".

When the funds have been raised it is time to call your veterinarian and schedule an appointment. Be sure to advise your caseworker by email when you have your appointment.

Your caseworker will send a Letter of Guarantee to your veterinarian to advise them of the amount of money available from IMOM.

Your posting requirement remains in effect.

Your veterinarian gets paid After treatment

Remind your veterinarian to fax the invoice to IMOM. Any portion of the bill you will be paying should be paid and reflected on the invoice sent to IMOM. It must be an itemized bill.

Happy Endings!

Once your pet has been treated, your topic will be moved to "Happy Endings".

We are hopeful that you will continue to be a member of our community and offer any support you can to others. Support does not have to be monetary. Emotional support is always helpful for others when their pet is sick.
