Ducati is a 6 year old Chinese Crested with an eye disease. His eye is infected and eye enucleation is necessary. The vet says this can only wait a short time, due to "severe pain from eye rupture." So please help us raise the funds needs, by making a gift and by sharing the link to this page in your social networks, mailing lists, etc.

To make a donation for this pet, please click here and mark your gift, “GF - Ducati Edgerton.”

IMOM’s email address for direct Paypal donations is paypal@imom.org. Be sure to let us know who your donation is for.

Note: Fund updates will be provided as time permits.

AMOUNT RAISED AS OF 9:00am CDT 5/7 - $250
AMOUNT STILL NEEDED:  $408

Thank you very much.

So painful for this little one!

Just imagine- just put something in your own eye, but NOT be able to make the pain go away, or EVEN understand WHY it HURTS!

DO NOT wait to donate on this one, folks!

I saw this post on the Introduction thread and it tell alittle about Ducati from his Momma...until she gets to the forum I thought I would copy and paste it over here for others to read...

"My name is Alyson (part time student and full time mother of a 2 year old) and I'm writing this on behalf of our 6 year old Chinese Crested, Ducati.

We were blessed to find Ducati after months of searching rescue sites and facilities. At the time, my husband and I were in more than a good enough position to care for our sweet little 1 year old dog and actually donated frequently to various pet charities and even carried pet insurance. Today (5 years later) we have been blessed with a child but stricken with grave unemployment. Despite these hardships, we had always managed to care for our pet family (Ducati and his Chihuahua sister lexis.)

Last November Ducati was diagnosed with a "luxated lens" in his left eye. This dislodging of the lens causes tearing in the eye, is extremely painful and in Ducati's case lead to infection. We had to have his eye removed; so we scraped together the money, funded Ducati's procedure and thought it was over. Now, six months later, we find ourselves living with family, still searching for work and battling another eye infection.

Ducati's remaining eye has been diagnosed with the same affliction and just as before has a fast moving and very grave infection. We are now scrambling to find help for our dog as we deal with specialists who won't take monthly payments, won't take third party payments, and basically can't help us.

Just two days ago we found a wonderful vet who (after seeing firsthand the severity of his condition) is more than happy to help us by allowing charitable organizations to help raise funds for Ducati's life saving procedure. We would love nothing more than to keep our happy, healthy (albeit blind) boy with us! We've studied up on caring for a blind dog and he is MORE than worth it!!

My family and I thank you for taking time out of your day to read this letter. Thank you and God bless.

~ Alyson Edgerton"

Our modest donation (sorry it couldn't be more) is on the way for Ducati, in loving memory of our Malamute girl Babe, she came to us shaved as she was matted to the skin, so we called her our "Alaskan Crested".....I know she would approve of helping her little cousin Ducati.

Angels, if you can help get Ducati fixed up, that would be wonderful, poor little one is in alot of pain.

Hugs to Ducati.

Ducati came to us from a rescue group almost 5 years ago.  The first few days were very difficult as he was extremely shy and afraid.  I had to coax him out of the kennel with treats and even then, he wouldn't let me touch him.  It took about a week for him to let me pet him but eventually he began to trust me. He was terrified of everything! Any loud noises or sudden movements would send him scurrying away. He was TERRIFIED of doors and gates!!   After about two weeks Ducati and I were finally friends but he still wouldn't get near my husband.  When someone would come to the door Ducati would run and hide until they were gone. I took him with me whenever and wherever I could so that he could see that the world was not that scary.  It took MONTHS of constant reassuring and positive attention to get him to come out of his shell.  Slowly over time he stopped hiding when we had visitors, I think it was at least a year before he let our visitors pet him (and of course everyone wants to pet the hairless dog).

Now five years later, he runs up to greet our guests, and walks with confidence regardless of the loud noises around him.  People can approach and pet him without any hesitation and Ducati soaks up the affection.  He has come such a long way!

When my daughter was still an infant (she's two now) we would sit on a blanket in the front yard. Ducati would lay right next to her!  Ducati always follows me everywhere so I was shocked when I got up and walked to the house and he was still there with her on the blanket.  From then on I he always stayed near her and stood tall when a stranger would approach.  Definitely not  a scared little dog anymore!!

Ducati has become such an amazing member of our family and we love him dearly.  I am so thankful to have found IMOM.  Thank you all for your support!!

Due to financial hardships my family just recently moved in with my  Mother-in-law for some country style living!  Ducati is adjusting well  from city living to life on the ranch. I think he had just enough vision  to find his way around before going completely blind.  He is doing  EXTREMELY well with no vision.  =D
I was  worried that he would revert back to the scared pup he was when we first  got him or just stand around lost and confused but I have been blown  away by how well he gets around especially in a new place!  With the  exception of the pain and discomfort from his eye, he seems to be  content.

Here are a few pictures taken today of Ducati sunbathing on the family ranch.

Thank you Vicky and cgerrans!!  Everything helps.  I am still waiting to hear from Red Rover to know whether or not he has been approved for their lifeline grant.  I am hoping that we can raise enough to get him in for surgery tomorrow!

Thank you so much Judy G.!!

When we adopted Ducati, his name was Donkey.  We were real quick to change that!

We chose Ducati because it wasn't to far of a stretch from Donkey, plus it lined up well with our other dog, Lexis, and my childhood dog who has since passed of old age, Mercedes. My mother has followed the trend in naming her two Boston Terriers... Taxi and Limo!!

However, Ducati was a little difficult for a young child to say so he recently picked up the nickname "Dookie."

In fact, I found a couple pics of Ducati and my daughter!! (Most of our pictures just got put into storage so I am limited to what I can find on my computer.)

Here is Ducati and my daughter when she was 2 months old...

Ducati has $250 in his fund but still needs $408 to have his surgery tomorrow.  Can you help this little man be pain-free?  If so, please go to Help Ducati!! and give whatever you can.  All amounts count, and none are too small to matter.

Thanks to everyone who is supporting this little guy!

**!! emergency !!**

Ducati's eye just ruptured and Alyson asked me to write this for her as she rushed out the door in a panic to pick up some heavy duty pain medication for Duke.

He was wondering over to her and simply bumped into her leg.   She felt something wet on her foot and when she looked down she saw that his eye had burst and was leaking all over the ground.  He is now in even worse pain than before and as such our vet is helping us out with some strong pain medication which Alyson is on her way to pick up.  The urgency for Ducati's surgery just went up 100 fold.

My wife and I cant thank all of you enough for your continued prayers and support.

I'm relieved to report that Ducati is at ALL FUNDS RAISED - the matching challenge has been met!  He is scheduled for surgery at 8:30am tomorrow.  Till then he's on heavy duty pain meds to keep him as comfortable as possible.

And now, without further ado, we have some bananas who would like to celebrate with you!

THANK YOU ANGELS!
