Diagnosis: Suspected pyelonephritis/sepsis
Low end of estimate: $914.
Less applicant contribution: -$0. Applicant has already incurred more than $800 in charges and has exhausted resources.
Needed for low end of estimate: $914.

Neutered: No (and cannot be safely neutered at this time)

Chubbers is a 3-year-old Pekingese with suspected pyelonephritis, an ascending urinary tract infection that has reached the kidneys. Sepsis is also suspected. (Sepsis is a serious condition characterized by a whole-body inflammatory state along with infection.)

Chubbers is a very sick boy. His veterinarian noted earlier today that he is anorexic, dehydrated, and hypoglycemic, and needs treatment as soon as possible. Treatment will consist of hospitalization, radiographs, IV fluids, antibiotics, further testing, and monitoring.

Here's a note from Chubbers' mom:

I am disabled with a terminal illness (lungs) and I am oxygen dependant. I also have heart and kidney disease and I am sick a lot - I depend on Chissy and Chubber for companionship - they are all I have that stick by me in sickness and health -staying in bed with me all day if that is what I have to

Angels, this one is an emergency!  Chubbers needs to be hospitalized ASAP.  Please help this little guy get the care he needs!
Hang on there little Chubbers.  I sent a donation and I hope that many Angels will also help!

TODAY IS CHUBBERS (and Chissy's my female pekingese)  BIRTHDAY - HE IS 3 YEARS OLD TODAY .....Happy Birthday Chubbers hope you get to go to the Vetenarian's Hospital in Pensacola today - I sure hate to lose you over a kidney infection - hang in there my sweet boy help is on it's way !

Happy Birthday Chubbers and Chissy!   I can't think of a better way to celebrate than to hear that all funds have been raised for Chubbers!    Please Angels, Chubbers needs to be in a hospital NOW!

Pattijo...sending HAPPY BIRTHDAY wishes to Chubbers...

Can you tell us some stories about this boy??  How you picked his name...does he have a favorite toy?  Anything you can share with us...

IMOM angels, this is a young boy and he deserves a chance for a happy life.  He has  Momma that loves him and a sister that wants him well...

What he has going on is SERIOUS...can we share, cross post and make even a small donation?  Wouldn't him getting all fixed up be a GRAND BIRTHDAY GIFT...Judy

I thank all of you for your care and concern - this is an emotional morning for me since it is their birthday - I want to thank everyone - he has kidney infection that has taken over his little body - I am sick myself - and my own health is becoming an issue - Chubber is my life - he has always been by my side when I am sick and now I can't help him - I want to Thank God for the angels he is sending me - Chuuber and Chissy were flown to me at the Evansville Indiana airport from Des Moines Iowa - I was tricked in thinking I was waiting for my brother to arrive from Oregon -and got a nice little package with 2 baby pekes that came off that plane - that was 3 years ago today.........God send your angels of mercy to help my little Chubbers..........

I just got a call the people from PETA whom I thought were helping me raise funds has authroized for him to be ethenized - they just called me and I said absolutley not !  He has a kidney infection not rabies !  I got the name Chubbers because he was a little fat ball of blonde fur - and the lady that escorted them fro the plane when I got them actually thought they were monkeys for all she could see  was their black masks.  Chubbers favorite toy is his stuffed lion and Chissy has a little yellow duck she keeps by her side - they play together with these two toys taking one away from the other and tug of war to get each's toy back.  I hope [vet's name] at the animal clinic gets the message DO NOT EUTHENIZE my dog - he has an infection that CAN BE TREATED !  He needs to go to the [vet's name] where they have the facilities and the medicine to treat Chubbers more aggressively and stop this infection from taking over - HE IS WORTH SAVING PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME SAVE MY DOG ! ! ! !I have been in tears all morning  even now so that I learned PETA wants to euthenize my DOG !!!  I am affecting my own health this morning -this has been a sad day for me and I sure didn't need the phone call telling me he has had authorization from PETA to euthenize him - PLEASE PLEASE HELP DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN TO MY CHUBBERS ! ! ! I  AM BEGGING FOR DONATIONS AT THIS POINT !  PLEASE PLEASE HELP HIM GET TO THE HOSPITAL IN PENSACOLA SO HE CAN BE SAVED !!!!!!!

Patti Jo...YOU have got to contact the clinic and MAKE SURE that Chubber's is OK...I cannot understand how another group or person has the authority to speak for someone else...

PLEASE...take a break from the forum and get on the telephone OR BETTER YET...call the clinic tell them ABSOLUTELY NOT TO EUTHANIZE...and then drive them to double check...

I know it's easy for me to say...but you have got to stay together for your boy...he needs you right now.  Judy

Patty Jo,
     Judy is giving you excellent advise.  NO ONE has the authority to make ANY decisions about Chubbers care other than you and you need to call and make that perfectly clear to the hospital.  
     Visiting with Chubbers is also a positive thing....I am sure not only does he feel sick but he is feeling lost as well.  I am praying that the Angels come through and that all donations needed can be raised today.

Oh my, this story sounds awful!  What is the update on Chubbers?  Is he still with us?  I don't understand how Peta got involved???  Keep posting updates if you can since the Angels are always watching and reading!

Folks,

Please don't think Chubbers is about to be euthanized.  I spoke with the vet this morning.  PETA merely offered to pay if Chubbers needed to be PTS, which would be impossible to do anytime soon since he's not even there.  

We have no idea how PETA learned of Chubbers but the owner posted to multiple organizations.  It certainly wasn't from IMOM.

Updates will be posted when available.

Chubbers IS STILL WITH US ! ! ! !  Chubbers drank water today on his own and accepted a small amount of food on his own - he is still very very sick I am hoping to get refills on his antibiotics and meds - he is a good boys - is is still not "playful" but he is sitting up more today and not just laying around and looking at me.  I think if we can keep him in his antibiotics my little Chubbers may stand a chance,  I have complete faith in [vet's name] - this is going to take time for the medications to work, I do understand that - but he has to be able to receive the medications as well for [vet's name] sent home very little supplies.  I thank every one for their donations and care and concerns on my little Chubbers - I am praying for the Lord to surround him with all of his healing angels and angels of comfort as he is going through this difficult time with his health.  I believe in God and I know God can work miracles - some that a human being can't even imagine - have faith in the Lord and Pray with me for my little Chubbers.

Chubbers is in need of a little under $1000 more to care for him and I appreciate every single dollar that is donated - all of these dollars add up - I am praying he keeps showing signs of improvement as he needs $900 more I think I read on the reply sight - if you have been blessed please please pass the blessing on to Chubbers - for God sees all and knows all - I have been talking to God and asked him for a miracle -and I asked him to send down his guardian angels and angels of healing.  Thank you all so very very much.  You are able to do what I couldn't do to help my Chubbers.  I appreciate each and every one of you !  Thank you straight from my heart and from the heart of my Chubbers !

Please angels can u help this precious birthday baby? He JUST today turned 3 years old and has many years ahead of him.

I once spent 3 1/2 months in the hospital for pyelonephritis, and I have also been in sepsis a few times. This is a life threatening condition. I know how sick I was, and I can't imagine a pupper going thru the same thing.

Ok everyone, Chubbers is in dire need of urgent help. We/IMOM have been in constant discussion with Chubber's vet today. He really needs treatment and fast. We need to raise this money somehow, quick.  

This is going to be one of those cases where we need every penny we can round up. $5.00 here and $5.00 there is the only thing that is going to help get Chubber's to the goal.

Cindy and I have been in close contact with Chubbers' vet today. It has been determined that they will not be able to provide treatment to Chubbers as initially anticipated. I've sent a message to Patti to discuss this.

At this time, we must suspend fundraising for Chubbers. We will keep you updated as we know more.

I am reading the responses for Chubbers - Thank you all very very much for the care and concern - I am so thankful.  Chubbers is a sick boy and he goes back to the vet today at 4 for a check up to see if the antibiotics are kicking in and fighting for Chubbers as well as the rest of us.  However small the donation please please give - Chubbers is right here beside me - and I have not left the computer working frantically for the help I need to get my Chubbers back to health.  If my computer was his bedside I would be holding vigil for him in every key stroke - I have spent hours and hours on the computer reaching out to every outlet I can think of for help.  He has an infection - one that has proven stronger than he is - and it is a treatable condition - as a lesson from this I will now pledge to become an active member of IMOM - as now I see the importance of having a resource such as them and their abilities - I would not want no animal lover / owner to have to worry as I have these past few days - we need to work and "bank up" savings for the ones that are in dire need - and as a retired insurance agent I can get with some of my fellow agent friends in Illinois I am sure we can do something to establish a savings fund for dire emergencies such as Chubber's condition.  I have been an insurance agent all my life - and my lung condition forced me to early retirement - I do not want my Chubbers to be forced to an early retirement as well - I know how it hurts to not be able to do the things you love doing - please please everyone let's pool together and help my Chubbers - as we will also get a fund started to bank up funds for cases like Chubbers.
I do appreciate all of you - and my Chubbers and Chissy life their paw to shake your hands - of course you got to watch Chissy - she loves to give kisses too -

I have contacted all the outside anonymous resources I can think of to pay the existing bill so fundraising can resume - there is a life on the line here and  I am not giving up ! ! !  I have been in contact with people from Illinois, Indiana, and Kentucky - my home towns - someone please unanymously pay off this existing bill of $845 so treatment can resume on my Chubbers ! ! !!   This is now a cry for mercy - Lord hear me plead - send your guardian angels and send this message to the ones you know have the ability to help pay this existing bill - Lord I pray you touch the hearts of these people and they act on your word - and pay the existing bill so treatment can continue with my CHUBBERS in Jesus name I pray  AMEN -

Chubbers  is at the vet right now PETA paying the cost of the exam to see if he is positively reacting to the antibiotics - don't lose faith - Stephanie from PETA  bheard my Chubbers barking today - he is not laying around - he is showing signs of improvement - right when the fundraising has to stop - so there are talking about a back slide for he won't get the refills of his meds that are working and showing signs of improvement.  I have sent a word of prayer on this web sight - and pray the Good Lord  touch the hearts of those who have the ability to pay the existing bill ($845) so treatment can resume and he get his meds refilled - without the meds he will eventually back slide to the condition he was in before treatment.  The good Lord has never let me down.

PETA has been involved on their own issues - they have been trying to euthenize my dog and I keep forbidding that to happen -My dog has an infection not rabies - now all fundraising has stopped because the VET which I can't mention any names, wants the existing bill paid - therefore with her request that brought all fundraising to a SCREECHING STOP !  I am praying on this - I have half the United States praying on this from Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida - that is some force fueled praying - the Good Lord will hear our prayers - we will be thrown a life line - The Good Lord has never let me down and there is POWER in prayer !  I will sell the farm if I have to - but in today's economy there will be a wait list for that too !  My Chubbers don't have the time - he needs urgent care -for this infection is proven stronger than he is.  We were on the right track to recovery - without his meds refilled I am afraid he will slide back to the condition he was before - the VET wants an existing bill paid of $845 which I do not have - I am here for medical reasons myself having received a faulty implant in Florida - I do not have the funds - and I have tapped into all of my own personal friends, family, pastor, churches, fellow workers,  I am left with nothing now but to sell the farm............I need an anonymous donor to pay of the $845 for IMOM won't pay an existing bill - so treatment and fund raising has come to a stop - my Chubbers is DOOMED.   Only the Good Lord can come through on this one and I have asked him to touch the hearts of those who know they can help - and I have now put my Chubbers in the Lord's hands........
