  Debs and I must be on the same radio wave frequency.

All morning long I've been thinking about these boys, and then I realized I'm singing "let this train keep on riding... riding on through."  But, I'm drawing a blank on the rest of the lyrics.

I had to chuckle (I know, sick sense of humor), but when I saw all the advice on the tape recorders I kept thinking... talk about being nervous, you guys are trying to psych out the neuro.  You know what it's like to be "testifying" with all the recorders?

Glad to see ice creams for the boys. Sorry hear about the struggles at agility. I do hope little Justice is on the up swing and those unusual events were just side effects of so much recent siezuring. You've gotten lots of good advice for your face to face meeting with the neuro. I'll be anxious to hear the results of the conversation. Know that you will be in many peoples thoughts on Tuesday.

Things have been busy with the start of the school year. I've also picked up some extra tutoring for one of our students who is in Westboro State Hospital in MA. The money will be nice, but the drive, and after a full day of work make it tough.

My boys are doing really well! Buddy has a birthday coming up on October 6. He will be 3! Since this is his first birthday with me, I'm throwing him a big party! I'm sure he'll love the attention and gifts. Sunny is really becoming a big boy now. Hard to believe he's 9.5 months already. My baby is growing up!

Oh, I forget things when I'm not upset too. I often do the same thing you do - as soon as the vet leaves, or I drive off, I think of something else I wanted to say. And I have skipped right over questions I had written down.

Yep, Cody is back on the wagon. I'm hoping for a chuck-free weekend   Cody says thank U Auntie Cindy for the chicken and chin rubs. He loves 'em! Give some hugs and kisses to those sweet boys of yours.

My radio frequency waves have definitely been bouncing out there in space a whole lot longer, but we both were picking up trains that are rolling, rolling, rolling and that's what we want our boys to do.

I think the tape recorder is a great idea.  Cindy's mind is so sharp she'll probably be able to remind the doc just what he said, and play it back for him, though.

LOL. Many IMOM friends think of the boys when they see the full moon, when they eat icecream and/or when they see or hear trains in music and books--(The Little Engine that Could). It's amazing how so many things in the "real world" not just cyberspace, will bring the boys into people's minds (and hearts).
I truly believe that when the boys are thought of, even if it's just a few seconds, the thoughts will help surround them with healing light.
The boys are blessed with many angels everyday thinking of them. Thank u everyone!

Justice tried awhile ago to jump on the recliner, but he couldn't do it a couple times, but before I got to him he made it. Tuckie has been doing that for a couple years where he sometimes has problems jumping. I hope it's a transient thing with
Justice <sigh>. Of course when he has had butt meds it happens--but he hasn't had anything except his regular meds for 3 days.

Yup. Think of the times when you couldn't get the neuro's attention. Now you'll have him hostage in a room where you can bombard him with questions. <evil grin> I think sometimes vets feel that a face-to-face will allay the fears of a worried owner. Little do they know that it just makes us more worried!

Hi Kim, oh I will def be bombarding the neuro with questions!! I may put my chair in front of the door after he is in the room.hehehe.
You know, I told Niki that part of my fear came from the message he gave.
The  "I need to see Cindy...", and working me in (when I didn't ask to be worked in) on the first day he is back, and not asking if I was able to come ($) Tuesday.
If he had just said (and I know Mari was true to his message), "tell Cindy it would be easier if we have a "face to face" abt some changes we need to make since he has been having so many seizures"--or something similar.
I would have wondered abt what changes--but I wouldn't have been fearful.
Niki said she will remember how this message impacted the way I felt. She will think abt it when she gives messages to techs to give to clients. She said it was nice to get a clients perspective-although she is wonderful, I doubt she needs to change anything.
Although as u know too well when a vet would want to talk to u abt Teddie--that was damn worrisome. I still miss her and hearing abt her. I just wanted u to know she is still (and will always be) in my heart.   hugs.

I imagine the neuro gets recorded quite often since he is also a Professor at the Ohio State University Veterinary College (used to be the Dean there too).
Isn't it funny, but I feel kind of uncomfortable asking if I can record the appointment. But if I can find a small recorder I will.

Cindy, the tape recorder is a GREAT idea. Whenever there are vet appointments Jeff is very good about going with me to be a second pair of ears. There are times when we wished we had taken along a tape recorder to confirm something when we would "compare notes" afterwards. Even taking copious notes sometimes doesn't help.

Cindy, I'm just beyond thrilled that both boys are ridin' that train! That is just the bestest news to read.

I wanted to tell you that I will not be around much this weekend -- this weekend is the big pet adoption event I've been coordinating for several months now. I am going to pop in here if I can to check on the boys but may not be able to post. But please know I am thinking about the boys and sending positive thoughts and energies their way. Please give them some kisses from their auntie Laurie. I'd really appreciate that.

Glad to hear that the boys have had good days and nights.  Hope you get good stuff from the neuro, and if you are truly, truly anxious, maybe call ahead to ease your anxiety to find out what the pow-wow is about.  These rollercoaster rides we have to go on with are babies are hard enough with tossing what the doc may or may not want to talk to us about into the mix.

Like all the others, I am sure it is just to go over treatment plans (and also so he can whack you for a nice be consultation fee).  I do hope so, and will keep positive thoughts for you!

Relax, and have a good weekend, and put the meeting with the neuro out of your mind as much as you can until you actually speak to him.  You will drive yourself nuts, otherwise, and sometimes we spend so much time worrying about things that we later find out we didn't have to worry abour at all.  I am sure this is the case, but I know it is so hard not to worry, but just push it out of your mind when you think of it, and give each of the boys a big hug, instead when you do, and focus on the fact that they are doing good right now.  Each good day, hour, minute is a blessing, so hang in there.  My prayers are with ya!

Dear Cindy,
It may be stressful, but at least   you get that vet face to face time to discuss your concerns firsthand and hear what he has to say first hand.  Going through a third party, however competent, can loose things in translation.  Here's hoping that the boys both get another night on the train - boy is it nice to see two rows of ice cream cones!  You are on my heart and in my prayers.

TWO LITTLE BOY'S ARE STILL CHUGGING ALONG!

Tuckie is doing fine. The stinker got me up at 6:30AM not needing to go outside like I thought, but instead he ran to where he gets his medicine and sat there expectantly waiting for his meds. After I put the boys outside (cuz when one gets up-the other does too), I brought them back upstairs, and Justice and I got back in bed--Tuckie started playing. Finally he came up the ramp and I grabbed him and put him against me petting him, and he finally settled down...stinker!

Justice is OK, not great. I thought he might break through last night becuz we had unexpected company, and as all our IMOM friends who have been to our house know--it's very noisy when u first arrive. But after everyone sits down (unless they get up again.lol.) the puppers all settle down. Well last night Justice didn't. He would stop barking a minute and start up again (that would start the other 4 barking again). I was running fluids in my room, but I kept hearing commotions. Finally Carol brought Justice up to me becuz she said he was really nervous. That is not like Justice. The couple that were here have been around the dogs (without me around) many times. But the man has a VERY loud voice and I think the noise was bothering Justice since he has been through so much.
He made it through the night, but he is VERY VERY clingy. He may just still be recovering from all he has gone through recently--but of course I always watch for seizure activity if either boy is acting different.

Hi Diane, I will hunt this weekend for my small recorder-although I don't remember seeing it since we moved here over 3 years ago. I'll have to see if anyone else in the house has it, or one I can use.  
The specialists at MedVet always  give u a take home paper with instructions--but I was counting on that when I took Justice to the IM vet--boy was I wrong. The paper basically thanked me for bringing Justice (and what a good boy he had been) and to continue his meds and the new food. That was it! Nothing abt the future plan we discussed. So even Niki didn't know what this vet's thoughts were.
But Mari always does a good job writing things. But if she happened to be busy, someone else may not do a good job. Sometimes too I may think something is important, and it's not written.
So, I hope to find a recorder. Thanks. Hugs

Hi Gail, thanks for the support. I really am OK with it all now. I was just having a meltdown on Thursday-and all my friends quickly got me on the right path.
Isn't it just crazy how we can make ourselves feel overwhelmed when it's not even necessary.
Now if one of u guys were feeling the same as I was Thursday--I would be telling u exactly what u guys told me. I guess we are not so good abt taking our own advice!!!
The boys (and I) like the part that if I am getting nervous abt it again--just give them a hug.
I am fine now, but have a feeling as Monday night and Tues AM are here--some concerns will creep back into my mind--but I don't think I'll have a meltdown again. No- "I'm melting, I'm meeellting". LOL.

Plus like Kim said , there have been several times that all I wished I could do is talk to him--now I can.
I am glad ur preliminary test shows no clots!! I was worried. I hope when the final doc looks at the results--it won't show any either!!!

I am SO happy he is having some great WBD'S--just wish he would start wiggling a bit later in the AM. LOL.

Justie is still quite clingy. He is really tired. He has walked around outside several times today, but otherwise was on someone's lap. It may just be from being so tired. The little fella has had quite a bad 5 weeks. Heck I'm exhausted and I wasn't having the seizures and drugs!

Tracy, please give lots of chin rubs and chickie to Cody!!

I'm not sure I'll be back on tonight. I think the boys need some extra attention.

Just checkimg in on you and the boys. Great to see more ice cream, and a semi-calm day. May there be many more ice cream days to come!

The boys had baths today, they are nice and white and smell great! Buddy's skin and coat are improving, just very slowly, I guess 2.8 years of abuse and neglect takes a while to make up for. Sunn is wonderful as ever! It's such fun to have a baby in the house.

Tuckie is so sweet all curled up and snoring.

Justice is practically in my lap (I am sitting cross legged on the bed).

I have been trying to think of questions for the neuro for Tuesday's appt.
We just had their 6 month check up in August, so I had lots of questions then.
I think it's hard becuz I don't know anything except it will be changes in his protocol. (I really think Mari used the words "BIG changes"). So it could mean changes with his regular meds or he has a "seizure protocol" which is what I do after a seizures.

While thinking of questions I thought, well let me try to think of different scenerios and have questions for each one. While thinking abt it, something major occured to me. This "face to face" is becuz he will be taking something away from one of Justice's protocol. It absolutely makes sense.

IF he was increasing a medication--he would have just told Mari to tell me. I would not have had any questions really since we already discussed it recently.  If he was addng a medication--he would have just told Mari to tell me that's what he wants to do--and for me to check with IMOM to see if it's even doable.

BUT...if he is decreasing some meds, or taking Justice totally off any medications, well then he knows I would have MANY questions and concern's.
I know Sue had read some articles abt some dogs that are on lots of meds, actually do better when meds are decreased, becuz too many meds can actually irritate or excite the neurons--which seems crazy--and let me tell u it is crazy!! But it worked with Tuckie.
So he may be planning something like that with Justice to start weaning him off, or at least to lessen doses--and we would def need to meet abt that!
If it's abt his other protocol, he may also be planning to do something abt his "rescue meds"--give it less frequently or more frequently.

So now I can better try to come up with questions!

TWO LITTLE BOY'S ARE STILL ON THE TRAIN!!!

Tuckie let me sleep until 7:15AM--he must be sick--just kidding.
He has been playing with his long weiner dog. If anyone ever saw the PetSmart commercial with a dachshund holding his new long doggie toy while the cashier put him over the scanner--it's that one. Oh, there is an adorable commercial more recently with the bulldog ( ?) that gets a new little sister, and he noses the toy to her and she starts playing--but then they go to PetSmart and get one more the puppy's size. Well Tuckie has a smaller one, more his size--but he likes the really long one. He is hysterical carrying it around.
He has had it for more then a year, but sometimes toys get buried, and now it's like he has a new toy. He is quite proud of himself.

Justice is doing OK. He went outside and got his beard all muddy, so I hope he is not going to be as clingy and tired today.

Jacki, it def is worth a happy banana dance having the boys at 4 and 5 days--actually 4.5 and 5.5 days!! many hugs.

Such great news to hear the boys have had so many days that were seizure free!  BTW, I know what you mean about not taking our own advice, lol.  I can be one of the worst at that.

Hang in and feel free to metldown anytime you need to.  That is what keeps us sane for the next day's challenges!

Cindy, at the end of a very sad day, I am really happy to come here and see that Tucker is at six days. And I'm so glad that Justice made it to five days, that is fantastic. I wish he was still on the train, of course, but like everyone else says, we'll just start a new train tomorrow and hope this one keeps chugging along!

Yea Cindy I'm so glad that Tuckie has made it to 6 days, and I saw that commercial with the dachshund and the wiener dog. Its such a cute toy, I saw them in pet smart and almost, but my two would have them destroyed in 5 minutes or less.

Poor Justice,  he did make it to 5 days though and thats a start. So now he'll get back on the train and go further next time. Baby steps

Hi everyone,

No more seizures after last night. Tuck got up at 3AM (so that means Justice did too). There was a lot of commotion among the wild animals last night, so with windows open I think it woke Tuck.

Tuckie is still doing fine. Playful and still my little comedian.

Justice is very tired today. I was combing him out and he kept melting down onto the towel I put on the spool table. He is here beside me napping now.
His appt with the neuro is tmw at 1PM.

Hi Kathy, I am also glad it wasn't a grand mal at least. PHEW!!! Since the propofol he hasn't had any GM's!! Whoo-hoo!! Thanks for checking on the little boys. hugs to u and Puddin!!

Hi Tracy, it has been a very long time since Justice even got to 4 days, let alone 5! So I am happy...just hoping he can have a really long train again. We'll see what the neuro says tmw.

Hi Deb, aw thanks for stopping in--I know this is a BUSY work week!! The boys both like that dachshund toy. Only Rustie will chew things up sometimes. Now the thing the boys do--well really Tuck is chew on any hair like stuff on toys. I often need to give toys a haircut if anything resembling hair is on it. LOL.

Hi Cynthia, I am in North Central Ohio--prob 2 hours or so from the Michigan boarder.
I am really happy Justice got so far, but I hope the neuro has a plan to help him get further. I really think he is going to reduce the dose of one of his meds, or take him off something, in case the meds are irritating his neurons. Maybe not--we'll see tmw!!
