Cookie Knight is at the Bridge :(

I'm so glad to hear Cookie is still continuing to do well (and sorry I changed him to a girl in a previous post!), and that you were able to get enough food for a few days. Sending positive thoughts for a successful fundraiser. :)

We worry a whole lot more over stuff than the dogs and cats do. I have a three-legged dog who lost his leg 11 years ago, and will be 12 next month. Apart from being cautious about jumping on and off tall places (a very good thing) there is absolutely nothing special needs about him. Animals adapt so quickly and just go on with ther lives. We sure could learn from that.

Thanks for the great updates on Cookie (and Taylor!). I always worry about how the kids are doing, and it is so nice to be kept up to date.

Have a great Sunday!

Judy G.

good morning Jamie,

zoe is doing well. My jessie(the older one)has a bad leg/hip and is now throwing up...so i dont know what to do. Well, i guess it is good taylor likes the less expensive brand. It IS a shame that when you have to think about your loved one and the possibility of putting them down makes you realize hey, i cant afford that! the same thoughts went through my mind when zoe needed her emergency surgery...i wasnt sure what was going to happen...but you dont want you babies to suffer-so the thought is out there. it is a shame. I am grateful i found a vet that told me about imom and helped us..noone else would even look at my girl! I hope cookie is having a good day today!i will check in later today!

Thanks, Judy! I hope Cookie continues to do well. He still has swelling, and I don't know if that's normal at this point or not. But, he's doing great. The fundraiser is bringing in some but not enough. It's picking up, though, thank you!!

Apparently, animals DO adapt better than humans do.

:) That's amazing your dog does so well. And, Cookie is the same way - just acting like nothing happened and like he doesn't have a bunch of stitches where his eye was. You're right; we definitely could learn from them. :)

Thanks for being so supportive and for asking about Cookie and Taylor. :) I really appreciate it. Taylor's had diarrhea today, but yesterday he started refusing to eat the Hills so I had to switch him over to the Friskies, and I'm hopeful it's just the food change. Will watch and see tomorrow.

Hope you had a great Sunday, too!!

:)

Take care,

Jamie

Good morning, a little late. lol I have been so busy today, TRYING to clean up the house, it's so behind because of the kitties, the vet visits, etc. I made a pretty good dent in it today but still have a long way to go. lol

Cookie's doing great.

:) He's amazing me. lol I'm just so thankful to IMOM and friends. Cookie feels SO much better. Thank goodness.

I'm glad to hear Zoe is doing well. But, I'm sorry to hear about Jessie. I sure hope you can figure out something and I hope she (he?) starts feeling better soon. Poor baby. It's heartbreaking when you know your baby isn't feeling well.

I'm glad you found a vet who knew about IMOM so Zoe could get the surgery she needed. A lot of vets won't work with agencies/orgs, etc., and I'm not sure why. I was going to ask for assistance for Taylor's surgery, but the woman who used to work at my vet who handled the financial stuff wouldn't agree to it. She no longer works there, and the owner of the practice agreed to work with IMOM for Cookie's surgery, fortunately. I already knew about IMOM. I used to do a lot of animal work 10 or 11 years ago, and I knew about IMOM then. I have a web site, if you want to check it out. I just had to stop doing the animal work because of health reasons, but I really hope to get back to one day. Here's the link:

http://www.geocities.ws/ptinnocents/

I'm really sorry I'm so late in posting. I just haven't stopped all day. I really appreciate you checking in on me and caring about Cookie. I hope you're doing okay, and I'll keep you and Jessie in my prayers.

Sincerely,

Jamie

Just wanted to give you all an update on Cookie. He's still doing great. He's no longer clinging to me, and has gone into the sunroom all day to look at the window, which is a good sign. :) I hate it for me, because I loved him being right here beside me. :( But, I know it means he's starting to get back to his old self, which definitely a GOOD thing. The swelling was down when I got up this morning for the first time, so I'm happy about that.

Taylor's doing great, too. No more diarrhea. Yay!

One drawback to them eating canned is STINKY litterboxes. Oh my gosh! lol

Not much to report since everybody is doing fine, thankfully. Had a payday loan back in 2004, and I received a check from them today for about $92, and they said I had overpaid fees, so that was a NICE surprise. Will help with the catfood. :) Wish I could get about 10 more of those. lol

Here are a couple of pictures of Cookie on the desk, where he's been looking out the window. I couldn't get a good one with his eye open; he keep blinking when the flash went off. His expression makes it looks like he's miserable, but he's not! It's just the flash! lol

Hi MaryAnn,

I hope you're right. I still owe almost $600 on Taylor's surgery (which is why they wouldn't put Cookie's surgery on account), and I don't know HOW I'm going to pay that. Most likely, I'll have to use the check to make a payment on THAT instead of buying the canned food. I have enough canned for about for about 4 or 5 more days now.

I'm so sorry to hear that Jessie is still throwing up. She's not any better?

I will definitely keep Jessie in my prayers. I know you're really worried, and I HOPE things work out for your baby.

Hugs,

Jamie

Hi Maryann,

Cookie's doing pretty well. I'm a little bit concerned, because he seems to be a little bit lethargic. He was like that yesterday some, too, and I was hoping he'd have more energy today. His pain meds ended yesterday, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not. He could just be totally exhausted from all that's happened. I'm going to keep a close eye on him over the next day or so to be sure nothing else is going on. But, he's purring and looking out the window sometimes and eating, so I think he's probably ok. Maybe just exhausted.

My fundraiser brought in about $50 last night, so I was able to put that on Taylor's vet bill today, so I'll be able to get some more Hills ID with that check. Whew. lol Yes, it would definitely be great if we could win the lottery, wouldn't it? lol I don't play either. lol Once in a great while, I'll buy a $1 scratch-off, but I don't have good luck with them. lol I firmly believe things will work for both of us. So, you just hang in there. You deserve it, too. You take such good care of your babies. :)

Take care,

Jamie

I just checked in to see how Cookie was doing...I am so glad that you two have "met".....both of you are great and what is better than two friends that love their animals.....

By the way, thank you for reading Gracie's thread and posting...she is such a love...very sweet and dignified...AND beautiful.....I just can' think of her living in a barn, afraid of everything...she is getting braver all the time...what a love.....

I hope you were able to get some canned food for your kids.....

Are you able to have a garage or yard sale? You can get things from your relatives and neighbors..put out signs telling them it's for special food for your kitties...you can put out a donation jar also...if people don't buy something the animal lovers will donate...who can resist helping animals???

Hi Judy,

Gracie's a LOVE! And, she IS beautiful! And, Rylee is too!! I've read Rylee's thread, too, but I forgot to post! I'm losing it! I felt so sorry for poor Rylee when I read that she was chained to her doghouse and covered in mud and poop.. Poor baby. HOW can people treat animals like that? I'll never understand that. I'm glad Rylee got better about chewing up things. lol I know that was a bit of a challenge. lol She came a LONG way under your and Dale's guidance.

I do have enough canned for 2 or 3 more days, and I'm going by the vet Thursday to get some more Hills ID. I'm getting a little money from my fundraiser, so I'm only able to get a few days at a time. I had a yard sale a couple of weeks ago, and I only made $8.25. lol BUT, I had it inside, and I didn't write "INSIDE" large enough on my sign out front, and people would slow down and only see the couple of things I had on the front porch and just leave. I had a few things on the porch, but not much, and I think people thought that was all I had. PLUS, someone tore one of my signs down (the one at the busiest intersection), according to my first customer. And the customer was here about 7 am, so the sign was gone the whole time I had the sale, unfortunately. If I have another one, I'm afraid someone will take the sign down again, dang it. If I do have another one, I'll definitely put out a donations jar. Thanks for that suggestion.

I've been going to some yardsales and buying stuff cheap and re-selling it online, and that's bringing in some money, but I still have a long way to go. I spent a few hours yesterday and today researching free or cheap online auction sites, and I found one today, so I'm going to put some things on there. Plus, I talked to a friend of mine today, and she's going to bring me some stuff to sell on it and give me a percentage of the sales. She works, and I don't, so I'll have time to do all the work. :) So, hopefully, that will pan out, but time will tell. eBay charges an arm and a leg to sell on there, so I'm trying this other auction site.

I'm glad Mary Ann and I met, too. She's wonderful. I wish I could her out. It's ALWAYS nice to become friends with an animal lover. :)

It's nice to hear from you. :)

Jamie

There could be more trouble brewing. I may have to use the cat food money to take another cat in to the vet. My cat SweetPea's eye has been watering today, and now I saw a little bit of white discharge coming from it. Oh, no. I'm calling the vet in the morning to schedule an appointment for Friday for Cookie so they can see if the stitches are ready to come out. That'll be 10 days. And, I'm probably going to have to take SweetPea in at the same time, if her eye isn't better. I can't believe this.

What kind of fundraiser are you having on FaceBook?

Bina and Peda have a FaceBook page, if you search 'Bina and Peda' you should be able to find them. Leave a comment on thier page with a link to your fundraiser, hopefully we can draw more traffic to it. (Make sure I can tell it's for Cookie)

I'm hoping that Sweet Pea is just having a temporary problem and doesn't need anything major to treat it...

I was thinking about your food situation...I've never had to feed any prescription food, but is there somewhere you can buy that food other than the vets?

Also, does it have to be canned food? Does the prescription food come in dry?? Might be more economical...

GOOD LUCK with your fund raising online...

There are a lot of cat savvy people on IMOM...let's see if someone can help with finding a better source for the food...

Hi,

So sorry I haven't posted until now. Did a bunch of cleaning this morning, and then I was so depressed, I didn't feel like communicating. So sorry.

I just set up an event on Facebook to sell items. Then, I go to my Facebook profile and set up albums with photos of what I'm selling and post the links on my event page. And, I'm keeping everybody updated about Taylor and Cookie. I've been going to yardsales and buying things cheap and re-selling. It's doing okay, but there are just not enough people who joined, only 32. But, I HAVE made a few sales, which is good. A couple of people have made outright donations without buying anything, which was really nice. Thank you for letting me post my link on your Facebook page. I'll definitely do that. The only thing is, I originally set up the event for Taylor's vet bills, so it's called, "Auctions, Raffles, & Items for Sale to Raise Money to Pay Taylor's Vet Bills". But, now it's for that plus paying for Cookie's food. And, I post updates about both Taylor and Cookie. Don't know if you know or not, but one of my other cats, Taylor, had major surgery on May 7th. It's that still okay if I post a link on your page?

Thank you! :)

No we sure don't, Mary Ann. But, SweetPea's eye is still bothering her. It seems a little better today, but I went ahead and made an appointment to take her in when I take Cookie in Friday morning. I just can't believe it. This is the 3rd cat now with problems. Man.

Hi Judy,

Me, to, Judy. Hopefully, SweetPea's eye will be better by Friday morning. If not, I'm going to have to take her in.

I don't know if you can get that food anywhere other than the vet. I'll have to check on it. Yes, it has to be canned food, at least in Taylor's case because he needs the moisture. I don't know about Cookie, though. I'll have to check with the vet.

I haven't fed my cats canned food in several years, so I'd really prefer just to go back to doing that. Because I can buy a large bag of dry food, and it lasts a month. And, that's what they're used to.

Hopefully, someone will have some suggestions here on IMOM. I only have enough canned food for 3 more days and that's it, if I take SweetPea in to the vet Friday morning. And, it's looking like I'm going to have to. When I took Cookie in for his exam (when they originally diagnosed him), the exam was $31.50, so I'm assuming that's what they'll charge for SweetPea's exam. So there goes the cat food money.

"GOOD LUCK with your fund raising online..."

Thanks!!

:)

Hopefully, some folks on IMOM will have some suggestions about the food?

:)

Hi MaryAnn,

So sorry to hear you're depressed. I know how you feel. I was that way earlier today. And, right now, I feel like a rubber band that's stretched too tight, and it's on the verge of breaking. It's understandable that you're feeling depressed with all that you're going through with your babies. When you get that way, you just have to take things one step at a time and just put one foot in front of the other and stay on auto pilot until it passes. Remember what you told me? "This, too, shall pass". It's going to be all right, so just hang in there.

I hope you have a restful night's sleep.

Take care,

Jamie
