Tucker and Justice Van Allen - Part 6

Oh My God... Cindy... I'm so sorry I haven't been here for you. I've been so caught up with Mike that I didn't know about all this. Poor Tuck.. poor You.. poor Justie. Oh Sweetie.. my heart is breaking for you right now. I just pray it's high lipids and can be treated.

Cindy, you and the boys have been there every step of the way for Mike and me... and all the time, you were battling such problems of your own. You are such a friend. I wish I could do or say something to ease the stress of all of this, but all I could do is offer up many, many, many deep prayers.

Lord, please help our boy Tucker. He's such a good pup and he needs your help. Please, God, help his Mom and give her health as well. Cindy, Tucker and Justice really need your help and healing Lord, and we believe that You are the One Who can help them. Lord, give them all good health, and please, please, please... let the report come in that Tucker has high lipids and can be treated immediately and easily. We ask in Your Holy Name. Amen.

Cindy, if there is ANYTHING I can do for you.. please let me know. And know that I will always be here for you. God Bless You and The Boys. My heart and prayers are with you.

Ohhhh THANK YOU ANGEL(S) for getting Tuckie to fully sponsored again! Thanks to every single one of his sponsors--and Justie's too. I am so thankful to all of u. We are so blessed to have friends who care abt 2 little schnauziebutts!!!

Oh, Juli, the news definitely helps with the stress today. Thank you!!

Geesh, I knew I posted today, but didn't realize it hasn't been since abt 4AM.

Tuck is having some obvious cognitive problems--like if a door isn't opened almost all the way, he can't figure out how to go through it. He just stands there until u get him.

We have done a lot of snuggling inbetween my doing lots of research on low fat foods and chloride levels. It looks like (and I am thinking positive it's the hyperlipidemia-still serious, but the best option) he isn't going to be on a food of my liking in order to get it lowfat and low chloride. Eukanuba or Purina!! Purina has some vet diets--it's OM or something--their weight management food. I hope my having him on good foods for 7 years, helps him through crappy (my humble opinion) food for the next 7+ years!!

If anyone knows of any good, fairly inexpensive (guess that doesn't go together) raw or dehydrated food (like Honest Kitchen--Tuck was on that for a year but ended up being abt $70 every 5 weeks, so needed to stop it--that was 2 years ago-prob worse now), please let me know.

I can't homecook and be consistant becuz of my illness.

The dehydrated food was wonderful (the HK) becuz it didn't need stored in the freezer!! I'll have to see if there are others out there.

No news from the neuro tonight. He said it would be this evening or tmw before he would call--depended on when the labs come back. I guess it will be tmw.

Thanks so much for the love and support. I am thinking positive that the labs will show hyperlipidemia. It's causing mini strokes, and may cause a major one at any time--but it's treatable, and his brain injury can improve.

I will let u guys know when I know.

Another night...

I hope Tuck doesn't seizure like last night.

Thanks again to Tuck's latest angel (s)--boy is that a relief to know I can get Tuck's meds every month. Thanks for the sponsors and all the one time donations. You all will always be in my heart.

Thanks everyone!

HI Cindy,

It was nice to chat with you for a few minutes. I'm sure the waiting to hear from the neuro has to be tough. I'm praying that high lipids is the problem. Please keep us posted. I hope your own health continues to improve too. You need your strength and health for the boys!

Tuck is restless and has had a couple CP's. I just keep watching him.

He scared the crap out of Carol a couple hours ago becuz he started choking for abt 30 seconds-but then he stopped (don't know why he was choking). Every thing he does is suspect now-I hate this.

Oh gosh, he sat up and has fallen asleep sitting up.

I laid him down and held him.

Justie is doing fine. I feel bad becuz I honestly have no idea how many days he is at now. He is always a very lovable little boy, be he is even more so now.

I am the luckiest mommy in the world with my two little guys beside me.

Hi Linda, I was going to call u, but I couldn't remember where I put ur numbers. Now I remember. I wanted to tell u myself over the phone or with email.

I am praying it's good news.

No, he wasn't postictal. The neuro said there is no doubt that this is not the epilepsy. Every neuro test he did showed a deficit down his left side. No reflex with the eye and weakness all down the left side. It says on the take home paper--"Left Cerebral Dysfunction" but I'm sure Mari made an error--and it really is "Right Cerebral Dysfunction". We talked a lot abt which direction Tuck circles. Tuck circled while in Dr Fenners office--so he saw for himself--he circles to the left- counterclockwise.

This is unbelievable Linda. No matter which of the three it is, Tuckie has had to fight so many battles, and has done so with such spirit and determination. I hope he has it in him for another battle. I am scared...

Thanks for the support! Hugs

Hi Joanna, hey girl, don't u apologize for being with sweet Mike! That is exactly where I wanted u to be!!!

I know how the news u got abt Mike affected me--so yea u needed to give all ur attention to Mike. I was glad u didn't see abt Tuck until now, becuz I know how worried u will be.

Thanks for such great support. U are and have been such a good friend.

Hugs to u and Mike the Magnificent!

Hi Splight, Thanks for the chat--sorry to get off so abruptly--I thought it was the neuro. It was Niki wanting to know if the neuro called yet.

Tuckie sure has lots of friends, angels and bridgekids watching over him.

Hugs to Buddy and Sunny and you!!

THanks so much every one. I will post after the neuro calls sometime today.

Tuck and I were up until 5:30AM. He is off balance today, but oblivious that something is wrong. My little comedian!

The neuro called a short time ago.

Tuck's lipids were normal, but his tryglycerides were high.

So...it's looking more like the hyperlipidemia (which even with normal lipids, with the trigylcerides high it's still called hyperlipidemia).

I had hoped , and totally thought, that today he would totally rule out a brain tumor--that is not the case.

Since it isn't totally 100% that it's the high lipids--becuz his lipids were normal, and his triglycerides, although 3X normal, it was expected to be even much higher...a brain tumor is still a possibility.

The only way to rule out a brain tumor is with an MRI.

For now we wait for the thyroid test results which could be in as early as the middle of the week...or in 2 weeks.

IF he is hypothyroid--he will only be treated with thyroid medication, and that should bring the triglygerides down.

If the thyroid is normal, we will do a diet change and add a statin, He said since Tuck's lipids are normal, he will def need a statin.

Of course we may do all this, and it still be a brain tumor.

I really thought I would have answers today. I wish his lipids had been high and the triglycerides higher...then it would have been for sure.

Niki has a schnauzer patient now with triglycerides that are 2600!!!!! Normal is up to 150, and most dogs are more in the 20-40 range.

The dog has no neuro signs at all, they just happened to find it on routine labs.

Tuck's are 444. So even though they are high--it was not a fasting blood since we didn't know all that would happen. But even with eating, it's higher then it should be.

No changes with anything. We can't screw with his diet becuz then his seizures will be out of control...at least not until we have the thyroid test back.

The neuro said to call if Tuck's symptoms increase.

I am so tired with being up with him 2 nights in a row and 2 hours sleep both nights, that I am not feeling as happy as maybe I should be.

It's just I thought today he would say--it's definitely this or that.

it's not his fault...but I wanted him to say--no brain tumor, it's all hyperlipidemia.

Plus we have the TIA's looming over him.

So that's the Tuckie news...

Justie is doing fine!

Thanks so much angels!

Cindy, I was thinking an MRI would have to be done to completely rule it out. And they are so stinkin' expensive.... UGH. I wish you had some more definate answers. Give the boys some hugs for us and I hope it gets more clear SOON.

The neuro had said Thursday, that if his lipids and triglycerides were normal it most likely would be a brain tumor, but in the end it would not be for sure without an MRI. But it would be a pretty good assumption. Yup way expensive. We would have treated him as though he had one. If he gets worse, Niki said that *may* be what he does. But we don't want to willy nilly put him on steroids.

But we all expected, that with the neurological deficits he showed, that if it was hyperlipidemia, his lipids would be through the roof, and his triglycerides would be through the roof as well -like well over 1,000-2,000.

I know it prob sounds awful, but I do wish both tests had made it absolutely clear that he had the hyperlipidemia and it was causing TIA's.

I never expected there to still be questions. AY YI YI!!!

We are thinking/hoping it's an "organic brain injury".

Hmmm wonder when the neuro will recheck Tuck. When I took him Thursday, I had hoped it would suffice for his 6 month neuro check, so I would not have to take him in again on Feb 5th with Justice...geesh, pretty sure that's not gonna happen now!!

Well I have my little boy, and we'll do the best we can for him. I trust the neuro totally, which is important. As worried and upset as I could see the neuro was, I know he will do anything he can to help Tuck.

Speaking of Tuck...and Justie...it's feeding time at the zoo.

Thanks so much everyone!!

Thanks angels!

Hey Cindy...

I just wanted to stop in and check on Tuckie (and you and Justice too, of course). Boy oh boy... questions, questions, questions...hopefully, soon there will be answers to all those questions... answers that will give our boy the easiest road back to health possible.

Please know that you and both boys are in our hearts and prayers. Mike and I are here for you, and (like some wise friends told me)... feel the hugs we're sending!! (((((CINDY)))))

Try to get some rest tonight. When I go to bed tonight, I'm going to close my eyes and visualize a wonderful, restful, peaceful night for all of you. Hopefully, that peace will come through to Tuck, and you will all rest well.

I had hoped to be fast asleep by now, but Tuck's brain has had other plans.

He has had a couple CP's and is restless. I am also hearing the wind blow vey hard.

Little Justie is doing well!!! He will be at 5 days in abt 8 hours!!

Hi Joanna, I think I feel that visualization starting to work--maybe it was just taking it's time between Cleveland and Butler. LOL.. Tuckie is calming down, and just curled into ball. He has his nose tucked down into his bagel bed (which is beside me).

I better quickly try to sleep-I never know when his brain will start going haywire again.

Hugs to u and Mikeypoo.

Thanks so very very much angels!

** well we got to sleep for a little bit, but Tuck is up again...

Come on Tuck.. try to take a nice long nap today, and then everyone will feel so much better... including you!! ;) We all love you Tuck... your Mommy is doing everything she can to find out what's wrong and to make you feel better. Hang in there buddy... Mike is sending you bunches of healing nose kisses.

Justice is at 5 days. My sweet little boy is doing great.

Tuck is having a bad day, after a bad night. He is wanting in and out constantly, and pacing. During the night it's like he has Sundowners Syndrome, which dementia and mainly Alzheimers patients have. More confusion and pacing among other things.

I only have minute to post this--gotta go down with the boys.

Tuck has had a couple CP's too.

Hi Joanna, keep sending Tuck the messages and healing nose kisses...we all send them back to Mikeypoo.

Thanks so much--big hugs to u!!!

Thanks so much angels!

Joanna let me know last night, the news on Tuckie. Sounds a little better now maybe the best of the bad is suspected, I hope. Have been constantly thinking of you and your boys and praying for rest, peace and health for all of you. I still find you amazing. I don't know how you keep to that schedule with the boys. Please take extra care of yourself and tell the boys to wrap up in Mr. Jack's special fluffy husky hugs. He is sending the hypoallergenic kind tonight so you all can get some sleep

Love you all bunches,

Debbie and jack :dogsled:

Hi Cindy and boys,

I'm sorry that you didn't get the answers you wanted from the neuro results. I am still hoping that it is being caused by the best-case scenario. I really, really hope that it is not a brain tumor. I'm sorry Tuckie has been having some bad days/nights. Cody and I are sending lots of love and positive thoughts. Even though I have not been on the forum as much as I would have liked lately, you are always in our thoughts and we are right beside you in spirit.

:hugs:

Tracy and Cody :heart::stripekitty:

Oh, how could I have almost forgotten to say this: YAY Justice!!!! You stay on your train for a long long time, little sweetie :1icecream:

Just a quick check in. I hope so much that Tuck sleeps thru the night. He has been pacing for quite awhile. When he was doing so poorly abt 10 days ago, he finally had a couple days where he just slept day and night--he was so exhausted from being up and moving abt 20 hours/day...so I hope he will finally just give in and sleep.

I hope the thyroid test comes back this week, so we at least know what to do--add thyroid meds or change his diet and maybe add a statin.

Justice hasn't had his train, so Justie-- here are ur FIVE DAYS!!!!

===============J :icecream5::turtle: =================

Hi Debbie, LOL thanks for the hypoallergenic fluffy Husky hugs. We can use them!

I hope Jack's tummy gets better.

I totally forgot to tell u that I saw a Husky at MedVet last Thursday. Tuck was totally fascinated by the Husky. What a beautiful dog!! He was called back before I had a chance to talk to the owner, so I don't know which specialist he was seeing. The Husky had a patch of the hair near the top of the head and it was very red, and he seemed to be a frequent patient there. I wonder if he was having radiation.

Hugs to u and jack!

Thanks so much angels!

P.S. Tracy we were posting near the same time. Thanks so much...Thanks for being beside me in spirit--I can feel it.

Hugs to u and Cody

Tuckie had a GM.

It's strange, he and Justice have had sooo many GM's in their lives, but now for Tuckie it feels so scary. Is it from a brain tumor? Stroke? TIA's or "just" his epilepsy?

Why didn't Justice alert this time? Becuz it's not the typical seizure, so maybe he gives off a different chemical or energy, or maybe Justice is just so exhausted from not getting good sleep either, that he just didb't wake up?

OMG, u guys won't believe this. I had to leave for awhile. Justice had a GM too.

I think the stress is getting to Justice too. He knows something is wrong with how Tuck is acting.

I have 2 little boys to cuddle, and hopefully go to sleep.

I am sooo sorry to be such a downer. I know none of u can stop this from happening. But just knowing u are here really helps.

Thanks angels so much.

Hi Cindy, I was thinking about you and the boys so I stopped by to check in. What a day you had! I'm so sorry to hear that both boys had a GM. Happy to hear that Justice made it 5 days before his GM though. Come boys, get back on that train! :) I'm also hoping that you all got some much needed rest and that you are all feeling much better soon!!!

Take Care!

XOXOXO

Oh no Cindy, what a weekend. I'm so sorry both the boys have been having seizures. I'm also sorry we didn't get the news we wanted.

4.gif to all of you and I hope that you got to finally get some rest. Me and the crew are sending loads of healing vibes for Tucker and Justice too. And relaxing sleeping vibes for all of you so you all can get some rest.

I hope the warm temperatures are doing all of you some good. Really strange to wake up to 45 degree's this morning and all the snow is about gone. Now there is just mud.

The boys are hanging in there. No more seizures.

I honestly believe Justice had the GM becuz of stress of lack of sleep (he isn't sleeping great either), but even moreso the seizure Tuck had, and my stress with the seizure. Tuck got aggessive for a short time. He tried to get up and was unable to, thank goodness, becuz he was growling and scary. Then the seizure ended and he was OK. But it totally did me in emotionally--and with all of that, awhile later Justice had a GM.

Tuck has had a seizure like that one other time in 6.5 years. I have no idea if it's coincidence he had his second one now when all this is going on...or if it's related to a TIA or possible tumor.

Justice is OK. Tuck is running around playing--he is a bit manic in what he does, but no more seizures. You can tell he has weakness on his left side, but he sure doesn't know it. That doesn't stop my boy!!

A little while ago he had a soft squeaky ball in his mouth, and he kept flipping it into an old manger set (yup Xmas is still up) and in with baby Jesus. I would get it out, and then walk away, and the stinker would flip it in there again. LOL.

Hi Michelle and Debs, it has been a rough several days. I think Justice will hop back on track quickly. It may be awhile for Tuckie, but I hope not.

I think we will break a 20 year record here for temps. It's 59 right now, and the record is 60.

Tuckie was outside barking at a tree, and Carol went and checked on him, and he had a ball stuck under an evergreen. Carol got it for him, and he happily played and ran, stumbling, but not slowing down. He has an incredible spirit to live.

Thanks for all the love being sent our way.

hugs

Thanks so much angels!

Hi Cindy,

Oh, I am so sorry that both boys had GM's. And now it must be especially scary with Tuck, not knowing exactly what is going on inside his brain. I can only imagine the emotional toll all of this is taking on you.

:hugs:

Wow, 59 degrees?? I think you guys are warmer than us out here in San Diego County. I don't get to say that to someone in Ohio in January very often ;) We've had cool (for us) and lots of rain. Cody just looks outsidre at his cat grass and doesn't even try to run outside when I open the patio door to put recycling in the bin. Sometimes he'll go out if there's a little rain, but not with as much as we've had. If he could speak English, he'd probably say "heck no!!!" LOL.

And if he could speak English, I'm sure he'd say "big hugs and get-well wishes to the boys, and lotsa hugs to my dear Auntie Cindy"

Tuckie had a CP earlier. He is now having his ball thrown into the kitchen from the family room, and he is chasing it--not very gracefully--but he is running after it. LOL.

The Championship game between the Ohio State Buckeyes (Go Bucks!) and LSU :P (that's for Paula2-hehehe) is on right now, and Tuck gets excited when the Buckeyes are winning (since everyone else is excited)--so he gets the ball thrown a lot so he isn't in the middle of the room making lots of noises with his toys. LOL.

I needed a little stalker mom break--so have come up to my room for the quarter.

Justice is doing fine. He has started to be challenged today with bread. So everyday he gets abt 1/4 slice of bread for 7 days (unless he acts allergic, then I stop it).

He is getting his afternoon meds in bread--he likes it.

Hi Tracy, I think we made it well into the 60's today!! That is strange we are warmer then u!!! I guess after tmw we have a major cold front coming.

Thanks for being such a wonderful support. Hugs to u and chin rubs and KFC to Cody

Hi Vicky, it always helps to have the support of so many zoopaws!! Thanks for thinking of us. I hope our larger Mal Keppra kid starts doing better!!! Hugs to u and the zoo!

Going to take a stalker and puter eye break.

Thanks so much angels.

I hope to hear from the neuro tmw since I faxed in Tuckie's seizure log.

Justice is very tired too!!!

Thanks so much angels!!

Poor Tucker, I wish I had the money Cindy, I'd have you schedule that MRI immediately so there would be no questions. It breaks my heart that you are all going thru this, it seems one thing after another, there has to be a break somewhere.

And update on Jake, he must have been allergic to that food. I stopped it last Wednesday and yesterday there was almost no itching at all. So that makes me happy. I was having Riley finish it up because there didn't' seem to be a problem with him but now he's been itching a little more, so I'll just toss the rest, there wasn't much left.

I hope Justice does okay on the bread, hopefully he'll get to be able to enjoy the cheerios I sent him.

BTW did you get my PM I sent yesterday I think it was?

Big hugs and I hope you all can get some much needed rest.
