Diagnosis: Malignant melanoma in the lymph node/jaw area

Estimated total needed: Low end of estimate is $1888 for surgery to remove the tumors and lymph nodes. Additional treatment will very likely be needed later on for follow up treatment; we will fundraise for those visits separately, as needed. Applicant has $500 to contribute. We need to raise $1388 for the surgery.

Spayed/neutered: Yes

Volunteer case worker: Tracy

Sheeba is a 10-year-old Rottweiler with malignant melanoma in the jaw and lymph node area. She needs surgery to remove the cancerous tumors and lymph nodes. She will likely need follow-up treatment after the surgery; however, the vet's notes indicate that this will be dependent upon getting the metastasis of her cancer under control. We will fundraise for those visits later on, as needed. For now, the first priority is the surgery, which the vet would like to do as soon as possible.

Please read Sheeba's story and see her pretty face on her webpage: http://www.imom.org/pin/general/sheeba-jones.htm

Donations can be made here: http://www.imom.org/donation/online.htm Please designate all donations for: GF - Sheeba Jones

Please consider making a token donation to our Operating Fund as well so that we can continue to cover our administrative costs.

Sheeba's Dad has already spent in excess of $1200 on cancer treatment for Sheeba. His temporary job has ended and needs our help. Thank you in advance for considering a donation to Sheeba!

Welcome to IMOM Sheeba and Mom? You have certainly come to the right place. There are so many awesome "angels" here that have a softspot for our furry friends and they are very generous with their assistance. I am a former/maybe future PIN mom so I am unable to donate to Sheeba, but I would be happy to help you in any way I can with your fundraising.

I have been coming to IMOM since mid August I believe. I have a Yorkshire Terrier with bad knees. When I first came I had been told both knees needed to be rebuilt and I was a basket case!! A second opinion was to slow down and try a little weight reduction, exercise and supplements so that is where we are now. Her case had to be closed as surgery was no longer imminent and there are so many babies out there in need.

I highly recommend looking at the "All Funds Raise" and "Happy Endings" threads. You can see how many magical things happen here. You might also get some ideas for fundraising. There are many creative minds here to help you. The only other advice I would stress is, post your heart out. Tell everyone everything about Sheeba. Let them fall in love with her the way you have. People will respond more to you if they feel they "know" the pet and everyone enjoys keeping up with what is happening with PINS. We all also love pictures! Feel free to check out Ruby Mae's thread as well. She is in "Closed Cases" and you will see that I love to talk about her and post as many pics of her as I can. She can't help it that she is beautiful!

I wish the best for you and Sheeba. You will find there are so many friendly, helpful people here to help you feel welcome, offer support, and hopefully get Sheeba to All funds raised really quickly. There are also people on here that have probably dealt with the same issue that Sheeba is facing. They can offer a wealth of information, not in place of a vet, but in addition. Again, welcome!

Welcome Sheeba and Sheeba's Dad !

I'm glad to see Sheeba in GF :) My Sydney has lymphoma diagnosed late may - early june 2007. IMOM angels raised enough money for her first 6 months of chemo which she is currently on and doing well with ! (you can read about her in ALL FUNDS RAISED) I can't donate because of my own vetting bills but I'll be happy to cheer you on and support Sheeba and yourself - she's a beautiful girl !!

Hi Sheeba and Sheeba's Dad. What a beautiful girl she is. We will all be pulling for Sheeba and hope that she gets her funds raised soon. Rotti's are my favorite I have a Rotti named Jake who is a rescue and previously I had Bear a Rotti mix that went to the bridge on 10/2/04 from cancer.

The main thing is to post and post lots. Tell us stories about Sheeba so we can get to know her. Even if no one replys it doesn't mean they aren't reading. good luck and I know we will see her to AFR very soon.

Well this is scary-I get so nervous with cancer cases. And her dad has spent quite a bit already just getting things taken care of prior to surgery.

Dear I.M.O.M. Community,

My name is Sheeba. I am a 10 year old Rottweiler and recently found out that I have

cancer. It started out as a small growth on the corner of my lip, but it started to grow. My owner, Roger, well he's actually my best friend, took me to the doctor and they removed it.

We thought that was the end of it but my doctor had me come back after a couple of weeks

for some follow-up testing and when the results came back, I was diagnosed with a Malignant

Melanoma. I feel pretty good right now, but I noticed 3 small lumps right under my chin.

Roger took me to see a specialist a couple of weeks ago, and Dr. Phillips is optimistic that there is still hope for me. She says that my chances are best is I have my lymph nodes removed. I'm also going to need some radiation therapy. And we also learned that there is a

vaccine available, that will pretty much eliminate the problem.

This is a very aggressive disease that advances rapidly and it's still in the first stage. Dr.

Phillips says without treatment, it wont be long before it progresses to stage 2 or 3. At that point it will be too late. She says i'll become very, very sick and if it gets to that point,i'll only have 2 to 3 months.

I really need your help because Roger cannot afford the treatment I need to keep me alive. He is looking for a new job because his last job was a temporary position which ended a couple of months ago and he is doing all that he can to keep the bills paid. I've always been a very good dog and if it was'nt for this condition, i'd be in excellent health.

I hope you will help me get the treatment that I need. I will be forever grateful and i'm certain that Roger will be as well.

Thank you. Your attention is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Sheeba

Sheba, sweetheart, I have some wonderful news: The funds are in for your surgery! A wonderful IMOM Angel has taken care of the money part. Isn't that great? Have your Dad schedule the appointment as soon as possible. Your caseworker, Tracy will be in touch as soon as she can.

We are going to leave Sheba's thread in General Fundraising because Tracy wrote the following: Additional treatment will very likely be needed later on for follow up treatment; we will fundraise for those visits separately, as needed. I'll let Tracy decide what's next for Sheba.

Thank you so much special angel donors!

Thank you wonderful donor angel for taking care of Sheeba. This is so incredible. I guess I should actually attempt to close my mouth now -- it has been hanging wide open in amazement, and I don't want the flies to get in. I'd prefer to save the flies for Cooper. :cooper:

Hi Celia,

He sid he'll let the committee know as soon as he does. I'll remind him to post over here as well, so our supporters will stay in the loop about sweet Sheeba :)
