Tracy, that picture is hilarious. You know how they say that if you put enough monkeys in a room with typewriters for long enough, eventually one of them will type Moby Dick. So I'm still waiting for Guy to type the Great American Novel. Maybe he and Cody could work together on it.

Mike you take a wide variety of great pictures and Guy is a terrific subject! I hope he's doing well!

Tracy, Mike is right

that picture is hilarious
. Talk about pictures saying a thousand words including that you must be at your computer a LOT!! Back when I had a computer my kitty would see me heading that way and determindly trot over there and do the same thing. Being on my lap was never good enough - being on my hands usually led to surrender and her receipt of the undivided.

Angels, if anyone is over here and enjoying these pictures please remember that Mike is really needing sponsorship.

Thank You in advance to any angels planning to sponsor Guy!

Well, I thought I'd put an update about the transdermal gel, in case anyone else is considering it. The gel was not as effective as an equivalent oral dose, but I started putting it in Guy's ears twice a day and it seems to be doing the job. And I haven't had tuna for a week. Of course, there are still those tupperwares of tuna I had to store in the freezer! I guess I'll catch up this week.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the update on how the dransdermal pepcid has been working out. I'm glad it's working out OK if you use it twice a day. I hope you and Guy are doing well.

Hi everyone. IMOM informed us today that Guy has gotten sponsors for a big part of his vet bills! I am really touched by the generosity of strangers. It is such a good thing, not only because it really helps financially, but also because someday I will be able to look back and a part of the memory of Guy's illness will be this wonderful thing. I don't fully understand it yet, but I feel that the kindness of Guy's sponsors and the support of this community will be integral to my acceptance of Guy's fate. Thank you!

I'm not sure Guy understands all of this, but look, he is dancing for joy!

Guy would love to find a dancing partner. Any interested female cats out there ... It would help if you know the blue string dance. Plus, Guy weighs so little that if he steps on your paws it won't hurt a bit.

Love the latest photo of Guy! I see him on next season's Dancing with the Stars. He's WAY better than George Hamilton! ;)

Mike, I had one of my cats on a transdermal gel and the pharmacist suggested taking an alcohol swab and, every other day or so, wiping the area where you apply the gel. He thought it helps with absorption and it made sense to me. Just thought I'd pass that along.....

Thanks for the tip about the alcohol swab, Kim. I've just been using a cloth with warm water up til now.

Kathy, Guy has found sponsor(s) for about half of his bills. I want to thank the sponsor(s) again. I hope I can be as generous as you in the future. Thank you.

Tonight I'm sad because the vet said today that Guy has a heart murmur.

Tonight I'm sad because the vet said today that Guy has a heart murmur.

Mike, did the vet tell you there was a specific reason for immediate concern about this?

Some kitties have heart murmurs that don't really cause a problem in the sense of a true "health issue."

I was told about 8 years ago that one of my kitties, Caine, had a heart murmur. We've never had any health issues relating to this, and Caine's vet doesn't really feel it's a cause for concern. (Though of course I wish he didn't have it.)

Too much bad news. The tests don't explain the murmur (negative for hyperthyroidism and anemia), so Guy has to go to the cardiologist. Further, he has elevated amylase and lipase enzymes, indicating probable pancreatitis. At the cardiologist they'll do ultrasound and check for this as well. This could help explain the recent vomiting and weight loss. His creatinine went up to 3.3 (from 2.6 in July). He also has elevated eosinophils (type of white blood cells) and calcium. Guy, that is beautifully captured and so true. I'm sorry to hear about Guy's latest problems. I too was hoping that at least the heart murmer would not necessarily be a big problem as it isn't for many animals or many of us people. I'm hoping the cardiologist will have more answers!

I hope you find the additional $86 in sponsorship soon!

Thank You :Angel15::Angel15: who are currently sponsoring, this photo ham, Guy!

Hi,

I am sorry to read about Guys' other problems. I hope they are resolved soon.

The issue with heart murmers and crf kitties is that many crf kitties get subq fluids- so there has to be a balance between keeping the crf under control and not stressing the heart with too much fluids.

Mike, I hope that you have visited the wonderful crf sites out there- there are also two good yahoo forums for crf kitties that give lots of good information and support.

Mike, I'm sorry that Guy had some bad news on his latest tests. I'll be sending good thoughts and hoping that things aren't as serious as they might seem to be. Hopefully the murmur won't cause any serious problems.

Hugs to both of you.

:hugs:

I have a very big thank you to send to the kind person or people who decided to sponsor Guy today. If anyone had told me last year that strangers would pay a lot of Guy's vet bills, I would not have believed it. I am definitely NOT one of the people who take things for granted and feel that the world owes them something. Having people who don't know me or Guy come to our side and help us is truly uplifting. Thank you!

We are also grateful for all the well wishes. Everything will remain uncertain until Guy's visit to the cardiologist and internal medicine specialist on Monday. At least I can have detailed conversations with all the vets because I spent most of early March studying CRF day and night. I am definitely a fan of the excellent websites dedicated to Avatar, Ashley, Scooter, Nadia, Gumby & Slick, Tanya & Thomas, other CRF angels, and of course, our own Magic. If any of your humans read this, thank you for all the work you've put into the websites.

:minichat6::minichat6: Hello Guy and Mike,

I am pleased to the most recent sponsor to help you through this difficult journey with CRF.

I am very lucky that I have vets that will work with me- I take care of lots of cats- sometimes I owe them a lot of money, and they always wait for me to pay. Kitties never seem to need help when you have money. Lucky fo rme, the vets work with me. I also had the good fortune to have a local group help Gatsby, the Orange Kitty when he needed a very expensive ear opertion. I promised Gatsby that I would pass on the help when I could. I am pleased that it can be for a CRF family.

I wish you and Guy well, and I hope the most recent problems are just a bump in the road. May you have many more happy memories together

Hey Mike, we will definitely be thinking about Guy. It sounds trite, but do try to keep positive. Wally's heart murmur was at a 5 for a while and now it's gone. He also had a bunch of those elevated levels and with a lot of care he did stabilize. I truly believe Guy has a lot of fight left in him. Give him a gentle hug for us!

Hello Guy,

Postive attitude really does work wonders. I had an outside kitty that I kept going for a long time with lots of love and positive thinking.

Cats are very responsive to treatment- I have had cats survive things you would never believe- and doing great now. We are all pulling for you both

Having so many of you pulling for Guy is working! Although we're still awaiting the results of the pancreatitis test, we know that Guy's heart is in good shape. I can't believe how supportive you all are -- thank you!

The cardiologist said the murmur was due to a harmless obstruction and that Guy is clear to get as much fluids as he needs. Both the internal medicine and heart specialists seemed really upbeat about his health. Of course, they also agreed that Guy is the cutest cat ever.

After three hours at the hospital, he was pretty tired ... kind of like in this photo.
