  1. See original story about Rocky (2010) Thank you almost 4 years later! Rocky is still doing great! He is still on his prescription food and has to use special cat litter but otherwise he is as charming and sweet as he always was. These past few birthdays would not have happened without the love and support from this organziation and all the great families who contribute. So, thank you from Rocky and his family for this truely specail gift...his 8th birthday.
  2. It's been a year for Rocky!

Thank You. Each and everyday I look at Rocky and know that he is only here with me because of each of you. There is not a day that has gone by when I don't remember and give thanks for his life. He is such a special boy and I love him to pieces and can't imagine a life without him. Thanks to imom, I don't have to think about that.
  3. I just wanted to come back and thank everyone again for giving me another year with our cat Rocky. It was August 15th, 2010 that IMOM and their community of angels came together to raise funds for his PU surgery. They were able to raise his funds in less then one day. It was an truly a heartwarming experience to be a part of and words still cannot express the gift of time that you have given to our family and to Rocky. He is doing well and we have had no incidents since last October. He eats his prescription food well and that has helped keep him balanced and healthy. Here is the original link to his story... http://www.imom.org/community/index.php?showtopic=6997 This is Rocky today. This is Rocky a year ago after his surgery. Again, words cannot express our thankfulness and gratitude for saving Rocky's life. Many Blessings, Michele and Family and Rocky too!
  4. I just wanted to post this message because it is Rocky's 5th Birthday today! Last August, I wasn't sure he would make it to this day but he is still here and doing well thanks to all the generous donations and support from this community. I can't even begin to express my gratitude for the help that I received. Each and every morning when he wakes me up at 7am (even on the weekends) and each and every night when he is sprawled out on our living room floor I am completely thankful that he is still with us. He means so much to my family and I hope that he is around for many, many more years to come! Again, a heartfelt thank you from my family to yours. And a Happy 5th Birthday to Rocky!
  5. Rocky: blocked cat needs surgery - urgent

Thanks again for asking. I was just reading over all my old posts and remembering what a scare all this has been. It is so nice to see that there is place like this where so many people care about our pet family members. Thanks again everyone! I hope someday I am able to be on the other side and be able to give back others.
  6. Rocky: blocked cat needs surgery - urgent

Thanks for asking about Rocky! He is still doing okay. He did end up going back in to the vet and we spent about another $400 on his treatment. He ended up with an infection and had to go back on medication but it did clear up. The vet has been very nice working with me and trying to get my bill paid off. I ended up coming down with Whooping Cough and missed over 6 weeks of work myself, so I haven't been online lately. I have decided never to switch his food or his routine as best as I can because he is obviously quite sensative to change. He is my big boy and I love him to pieces and I am thankful each and everyday that he is still with us. Everyday that I see him lounging out all spread out on my floor, I remember that it was because of the generous contributions and love from complete strangers that made that possible.
  7. Rocky: blocked cat needs surgery - urgent

Hello All, I never expected to be back on this board but to my surprise Rocky is having problems again. He is trying to pee all over the house and today he started peeing blood. I am not happy. I don't understand. This can't be his life!
  8. Rocky: blocked cat needs surgery - urgent

Rocky went in for his suture removal today but it didn't go as planned. He needed to be put under for them to remove them and so it was an extra $65.00 but he's home and it's almost over.....now two more days of meds and the cone and then he's home free!!! Just wanted to update again.
  9. Rocky: blocked cat needs surgery - urgent

Yeah! Tomorr ow is the day. Rocky gets his stitches removed and the cone!!! He saw his medicine this morning and ran and hid under the bed. I am so ready to be done with this whole thing!!!! Tomorrow can't come soon enough.
  10. If you follow their procedures I am sure they will help you. I just received help for my cat Rocky, you can read about him. Get your paperwork in to them, they can move very quickly once you are approved. It took them about a day to raise money for Rocky. But, you have to follow the process. Good Luck, Michele

  11. Rocky: blocked cat needs surgery - urgent

I spoke with the doctor today and he told me that Rocky has over 100 little stitches in his bottom. Ouch! He was suppose to go in at 4 on Monday to have them removed but the doctor thought it would be a better idea to have him dropped off on Tuesday and he would spend the day there. That way they could take them out little by little and give him breaks. I really appreciate the care that Rocky has gotten at this vet. His doctor really seems to have Rocky's best interest at the forefront of his decisions. Anyways, just wanted to share...he's almost done with this journey.
  12. I feel your pain! I just went through this with my cat Rocky. He is 4 years old. He had the same procedure and then ended up having another surgery. He is home and doing great now but still healing. It's funny but I had never heard about this problem with male cats until a month ago and now I am seeing that it happens alot. If you need any support, please contact me. I would be happy to chat with you. best of luck to you both, Michele
  13. I am very grateful to be writing a testimonial for imom and to be at the end of our journey. I first became aware of imom in late July when my 4.5 yo cat Rocky started having urinary problems. Within days he had progressed to a full blockage and needed to have to manually unblocked. It was a difficult procedure and took two doctors to complete. He stayed in the hospital for 4 days but I was finally able to bring him home. He came home with IV fluids and lots of medication. I had to give him daily IV injections to keep the fluids moving through him to help prevent another blockage. Within a few weeks he was showing the same symptoms as before and was also urinating blood. I took him back him and they evaluated him again and they told me to be prepared for the worst. They said he was a ticking time bomb and it was just a matter of time before he re-blocked. They said that I would have about a day to make a decision as to whether I could do the surgery or I would have to put him down. I knew that this was not something that I would choose. After spending $900 in vet bills already to this point, I also knew it was not in my means to provide it for him. I contacted imoms and started the paperwork. I was pretty overwhelmed with the procedure at first but I was overwhelmed with what I was facing and that made it more difficult. I knew I was running out of time. I took half a day and just tackled the paperwork piece by piece. In the end, the process went very smoothly. After I had faxed everything, they contacted me and I had to answer a few additional questions. The vet was also very willing to work with imoms and that helped a lot. In the month that they had been seeing Rocky and helping him, they had really come to know him and genuinely really wanted to see him better. The night that I subbmited the online application, I was very stressed but by morning things were moving very quickly. I was told that he was approved and they would start fundraising that day. Since it was a Sunday and I was home and Rocky was limited on time at this point, I sat at the computer pretty much the entire day and posted pictures and stories of Rocky. I really wanted to be a part of his journey on imom. Within about 7-8 hours, they had raised all the money that they needed. There were so many Angels that came to Rocky's rescue. I was a emotional mess at that point because I knew that Rocky was going to make it. I am still in awe of how many people gave to us and gave to help Rocky. Rocky had his surgery last Wednesday and he is home and doing very well. He is still on medicine and has a collar on but he is active, he is loving and he is Peeing! He goes back to the doctor next Monday for his post-op appointment but I am expecting a clean bill of health and a prognosis of a long and healthy life for Rocky. This could not have happened without YOU! Rocky is a medical companion animal for my daughter and has been a huge part of her life. The thought of him not being a part of our family right now was unimaginable. Words really cannot express my gratitude for your support and your contributions. I do plan on staying a part of this online community and helping in other ways. Although I am going to spend some time with Rocky too! I just also want to say a special thank you to Kyle. Thank you for "holding my hand" through this process and for all the support you have given me and my family. It was nice to know that there was someone that I could personally check in with. With my warmest regard, Michele P. - Rocky's mama
  14. Rocky: blocked cat needs surgery - urgent

Well today was the first day that Rocky seemed more like himself. He was out in the kitchen and up on the counter (something I usually discourage) and begging for his turkey, which I had to give him. He was the most "normal" today then I have seen him since late July when he first got sick. And he almost got his cone off today too. He was able to get half of his head out, little stinker! Anyways, here are some photos from this morning as we were getting ready for school and work. (pardon the sink full of dirty dishes) Watching Letters to God last night and time got away from me.) I am also starting to think that there is something up with his right eye?
  15. Rocky: blocked cat needs surgery - urgent

Yes, Eve he did get his surgery. He had it on Wed. and he came home on Friday. I do not need any donations, but thank you. Imom was very instrumental in getting his surgery for him, without all of you it would not have happened. He is here and he is resting. He sure doesn't like his collar on though. He is getting creative on trying to figure out how to get it off. Thank you for checking in about him!
